In partnership with Samaritan House Ministries & ACCSA

Every Halloween the Brandon University Students' Union and the Assiniboine Community College Students' Association  orchestrate a citywide food drive for their respective food banks by dressing up and trick-or-treating for non-perishable food items. With the help of student volunteers and student groups, we're able to adequately stock our student food bank for the entire year. 

Our food bank is a very important service for students to be able to access. Last year we gave out almost 550 hampers to assist over 1300 people. We depend on student volunteers to make this event successful and we value all of the help we can get! 


All interested student groups and volunteers should visit the BUSU office to sign-up. You can also call us at (204)727-9660 and we'd be happy to help you sign-up over the phone. All volunteers will be expected to meet at Samaritan House on October 31st at 5:00pm. The event will run from 5:00pm-9:00pm (Plus, who doesn't love the opportunity to dress up and trick-or-treat again?)

Club Funding

Every year we allocate club funding to student groups that participate in the event based on the amount of food they are able to collect. This year we will be giving out $0.25/lb of food to each club. This funding can help student groups with their events and activities throughout the year and it's a great way to get involved!

Other Ways to Volunteer

If you are not part of a club but are interested in the opportunity to volunteer then we would love to have your help with the following:

1) Weighing food as it comes in during the event

2) Separating expired food items during and after the event

3) Organizing non-expired food items into specific categories
